From successful rider to successful provider
Having competed internationally and ranked among the world's top 100 riders, Peter Eeckman knew exactly what elite-level showjumping required. When Belgian showjumping legend Jean-Claude van Gheenberghe sought to return to the sport's pinnacle, he needed the right horses to get him there. He turned to Peter Eeckman and his extensive network. In no time, Eeckman had found Jean-Claude and his sponsors Grand Prix horses like La Bomba, who competed at the World Equestrian Games in Lexington.
This early scouting triumph led Peter to shift from active riding to sourcing and scouting, a decision that paired the world's best horses with the world's best riders.
A Network and Keeping Up with Evolution
His international showjumping career provided Peter with an extensive network of riders and owners across Europe and even in the USA. Early scouting trips in Germany supplied him with plenty of equine talent to meet growing demand. With the advent of live-streaming, Peter could match even more horses and riders. Nowadays, an average workweek consists of at least 50 hours of scanning videos and livestreams of international competitions across the globe.
Luck Left Out of the Equation
Finding a good horse and pairing it with the right rider is one thing. Doing it consistently for over 20 years is another. The fact that top riders like Ben Maher and Henrik von Eckermann seek Peter's insight and portfolio is not a coincidence.
These top-level riders have experienced firsthand how well Peter understands their needs and the qualities they seek in a horse. They also know Peter’s approach is centered on honesty and transparency. His knowledge of horses and integrity in the business have turned Peter Eeckman into a sought-after talent scout, leading to a steady stream of success and medals.
